Riga – Sigulda – Krimulda – Riga
Day 1: The spirit of medieval Livonia
Arrival to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Stop by a private Latvian handicraft manufacture on your way to Sigulda. Enjoy a magnificent view of the Gauja River Valley from a cable car. Visit the remains of the former Bishop's castle of Turaida and the oldest working church of Livonia, built in 1205. Indulge in a medieval festivity at "Godesverdera". In the evening, enjoy a steam-bath according to Latvian traditions. Hotel in Riga.
Day 2: Riga through the centuries
Spend the morning in the Ethnographic Open Air Museum, followed by a guided tour of the historic medieval centre of Riga. In the Museum of the Occupation, learn more about the troublesome times of the Soviet Russian and Nazi German occupation. After lunch, have a tour of the city's boulevards and the 19th century residential quarters, showing all the charm of Art Nouveau architecture. Departure in the evening.
